We are so grateful for our many donors who have helped us reach our $7,500 goal, but we cannot stop there! We have decided to extend our goal to $10,000 in order to offset more of the costs associated with developing and equipping Southern Style for their role. Help us keep up the momentum! With their signature gold blazers, this 42-year tradition continues to be a part of the Southern Miss story. Today, Southern Style is comprised of student leaders whose purpose is to connect students to the institution during new student orientation and to serve as the official host group for the University.

A spirit of excellence has become synonymous with Southern Style. Their training includes a 16-week course, a training week before the start of the orientation season and participation in the National Orientation Director’s Association (NODA) regional meeting during the spring semester. The Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (SROW) is held annually on a college campus and is the epicenter of best practices within the field of orientation, transition and retention.

This year, SROW will be held in Orlando, Florida on the campus of the University of Central Florida. During this trip, the new team will have the opportunity to network with more than 2,200 peers from the southeastern region and gain valuable opportunities to explore Orlando. SROW will cost more this year than in previous years, due to the location of the conference and the opportunities to expose the team to all that Orlando offers.

Every former Southern Style member knows that belonging to this prestigious organization means so much more than getting that gold jacket. Upon selection, students commit to devoutly serving The University of Southern Mississippi throughout their year on the team. Please consider supporting the newest group of students who have been charged with continuing the Southern Style legacy and leaving Southern Miss better than they found it. Help them take full advantage of this transformative experience that prepares them for welcoming the newest class of Golden Eagles!
