A Call for Support: Send Us to CHC 2026 in Montreal!

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hydrographic Science program works hard every year to send as many students as possible to the two premier North American hydrography conferences: US Hydro and the Canadian Hydrographic Conference (CHC), which alternate each year. 

Thanks to generous scholarships from The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA) National and Southeast Chapter, as well as grants from the Republic of Korea’s partnership with the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), we’ve been able to give our students life-changing professional development opportunities. 

This year, we are short on funds to cover travel expenses for CHC 2026 in Montreal, Canada (April 27-30, 2026).   

Why CHC Matters for Our Students 

The Canadian Hydrographic Conference is one of the premier events in North America for technical exchange, professional development, and high-quality training in hydrography.   

CHC offers:  

- A full day of intensive training workshops  

- Targeted technical sessions focused on real-world hydrographic challenges  

- Autonomous systems (USVs, UUVs, UAVs) 

- Data acquisition with tactically relevant equipment 

- Advanced data processing  

- Complex Data Management 

With the explosive growth in AI and Machine Learning, staying current in this rapidly evolving field is only possible by continuously engaging with the latest developments from industry, academia, and government. All of which will converge at CHC.   

By attending, our students gain direct exposure to cutting-edge technologies, build professional networks, and prepare for successful careers supporting safe navigation, national security, and ocean science.
