Please help us keep our programs on the go! The Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) at The University of Southern Mississippi needs your help to purchase a new minivan to transport our program participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities to activities and events in the community. After 20 years, our current van has decided it is time to retire, and we need a new set of wheels! A major component of our work with people with disabilities is promoting community inclusion for youth and adults through opportunities to participate in volunteer service, pre-employment job skills training, socialization events, adaptive sports and recreation, arts and crafts, disability awareness, and many other community-based activities.
As a completely grant-funded center, IDS secures all its funding from sources outside the University. It is our hope that the funds raised can be combined with other monies to offset the cost of purchasing a minivan. If we are unable to raise the necessary funds to purchase a minivan, any funds raised through this Eagle Fever project will be used to provide travel funding for activities and events in the community. Should we be gifted a minivan, the funds raised will be used to cover the costs of fuel and vehicle maintenance.
