The USM community lost one of its most renowned researchers on April 14th, 2016. Stanley A. Kuczaj served as the director of the Marine Mammal Behavior and Cognition Laboratory for 20 years at The University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Kuczaj inspired countless students to conduct independent research and pursue careers in the field of Experimental Psychology. Dr. Kuczaj advised over 50 masters and doctoral students in a variety of fields during his tenure at The University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Kuczaj was a devoted advisor, instructor, and passionate researcher who encouraged the empirical pursuit of novel topics in human development, human cognition and animal behavior and cognition.
In the spirit of Dr. Kuczaj’s dedication and love for his students and his research, the USM Brain and Behavior Psychology Student Government (BBPSG) Organization is honoring his legacy to assist students pursuing experimental psychology at USM with their educational and empirical endeavors. The funds raised through this project will be used to support research conducted by students and faculty in the Brain and Behavior program.
